Gothenburg Swedes (Gothenburg, NE) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Northwest Vikings (Grand Island, NE), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Swedes now own a 14-8 record. They play next when they travel to Boone Central/Newman Grove for a non-league match on Saturday, September 16. Gothenburg will face a Cardinals squad coming off a 12-5 non-league loss to Wayne (Wayne, NE). The Cardinals record now stands at 4-3.
