Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Santa Rosa, CA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they witnessed their volleyball team overcome the host Marin Academy Wildcats (San Rafael, CA), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals (7-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Pleasant Valley (Chico, CA). The Vikings come into the non-league challenge with a 8-4 record. In their last challenge, Pleasant Valley beat Red Bluff (Red Bluff, CA), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Wildcats meet the University Red Devils (San Francisco, CA) in a Bay Counties - West test, on Friday, September 19. Marin Academy will attempt to advance on its 14-6 season record. The Red Devils go into the test with a 11-2 record after their 3-0 league win over Lick-Wilmerding (San Francisco, CA).
