Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA) fans went home in high spirits Thursday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting Cumberland Dukes (Cumberland, VA), 40-14 in a non-league battle.

With the triumph, Nelson County upgrades its record to 1-2 on the campaign. The Governors host Gretna (Gretna, VA) to meet the Hawks in a non-league test on Thursday, October 9. The Hawks come into the test with a record of 0-3. Gretna lost 41-6 in their recent non-league test against Halifax County (South Boston, VA)

With the defeat, Cumberland drops to 0-2 on the campaign. The Dukes host Charles City (Charles City, VA) to meet the Panthers in a non-league test on Wednesday, September 24. The Panthers come into the test with a record of 0-0.
