North Carolina High School Football - Polk County can't hold off Owen

September 19, 2025: Columbus, NC 28722

The Owen Warhorses got by the host Polk County Wolverines football team by a score of 17-14 in Friday's league test.

The Warhorses now hold a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Avery County for a Western Highlands 2A/3A test on Friday, September 26. Owen will meet a Vikings squad coming off a 47-20 league loss to Madison (Marshall, NC). The Vikings record now stands at 1-4.

With the defeat, Polk County drops to 2-3 on the season. The Wolverines travel to Mitchell (Bakersville, NC) to face the Mountaineers in a Western Highlands 2A/3A challenge on Friday, September 26. The Mountaineers go into the challenge with a record of 2-3. Mitchell lost 34-7 in their recent league challenge against Hendersonville (Hendersonville, NC)
