In Friday's non-league test, the visiting Mount Vernon Tigers volleyball squad scored a tight 3-2 win over the Hughes Springs Mustangs.

With the win, Mount Vernon improves its record to 10-14 on the season. The Tigers travel to Rains (Emory, TX) to face the Wildcats in a 3A Region II District 12 challenge on Tuesday, September 23. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a record of 5-21. Rains won 3-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Alba-Golden (Alba, TX)

Next, the Mustangs meet the Harmony Eagles (Big Sandy, TX) in a 3A Region II District 13 challenge, on Tuesday, September 23. Hughes Springs will attempt to upgrade on its 9-18 season record. The Eagles go into the test with a 6-9 record after their 3-2 non-league loss to Mineola (Mineola, TX).
