In Friday's non-league game, the Newton Cardinals (Newton, IA) football team knocked off the host Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs (Monroe, IA), by a score of 27-13.
The Cardinals (2-0) will now prepare for their game against Marshalltown (Marshalltown, IA). The Bobcats come into the non-league game with a 1-1 record. In their last challenge, Marshalltown achieved victory over Waterloo East (Waterloo, IA), 31-6, in a non-league challenge.
