The crowd at Saturday's non-league contest between the Bernards Mountaineers (Bernardsville, NJ) and the host Hillside Comets (Hillside, NJ), observed Bernards's football squad defeat Hillside by a count of 28-12.

The Mountaineers now own a 2-0 record. They play next when they host South River for a Big Central - Patriot Gold contest on Friday, September 8. Bernards will encounter a Rams squad coming off a 14-6 non-league loss to Metuchen (Metuchen, NJ). The Rams record now stands at 0-1.

Coming up next, the Comets encounter the Metuchen Bulldogs (Metuchen, NJ) in a Big Central - Patriot Silver contest, on Saturday, September 9. Hillside will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Bulldogs go into the contest with a 1-0 record after their 14-6 non-league win over South River (South River, NJ).
