The Avon Lake Shoremen smashed the host Elyria Pioneers soccer squad by a margin of 9-0 in Wednesday's league match.

The Shoremen now sport a 9-1 record. They play next when they travel to Archbishop Hoban for a non-league match on Monday, September 25.

With the loss, Elyria drops to 2-9 on the season. The Pioneers travel to Steele (Amherst, OH) to encounter the Comets in a Southwestern match on Wednesday, September 27. The Comets come into the match with a record of 6-3. Steele 1-1 in their recent non-league match against Magnificat (Rocky River, OH)
