In Friday's non-league game, the Schulenburg Shorthorns (Schulenburg, TX) football team felled the visiting Brazos Cougars (Wallis, TX), by a score of 35-6.

In their next game, the Shorthorns face the Kenedy Lions (Kenedy, TX) in a 2A-1 Region IV District 15 challenge, on Friday, September 27. Schulenburg will attempt to improve on its 3-1 season record. The Lions go into the challenge with a 2-2 record after their 52-0 non-league win over Pettus (Pettus, TX).

The Cougars (3-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Tidehaven (El Maton, TX). The Tigers go into the 3A-2 Region IV District 14 challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, Tidehaven lost by Ganado (Ganado, TX), 42-6, in a non-league challenge.
