In Friday's non-league game, the Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA) football team edged the visiting Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), by a tally of 21-20.

In their next game, the Green Waves battle the James Monroe Mavericks (Lindside, WV) in a non-league game, on Friday, September 27. Narrows will attempt to better on its 2-1 season record. The Mavericks enter the game with a 2-2 record after their 27-0 league win over Liberty (Glen Daniel, WV).

The Spartans (0-3) will now prepare for their game against Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Blue Devils enter the Mountain Empire game with a 2-2 record. In their last game, Grayson County held off Floyd County (Floyd, VA), 42-15, in a non-league game.
