In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Piedmont Panthers football squad scored a close 20-14 victory over the Montgomery Central Timberwolves.
The Panthers (2-3) will now prepare for their match against West Stanly (Oakboro, NC). The Colts enter the 2A/3A Rocky River challenge with a 0-5 record. In their last challenge, West Stanly was edged by Mount Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, NC), 42-0, in a non-league challenge.
The Timberwolves (4-1) will now prepare for their challenge against North Davidson (Lexington, NC). The Black Knights enter the Mid-Piedmont 3A challenge with a 1-4 record. In their last challenge, North Davidson was edged by Watauga (Boone, NC), 47-21, in a non-league challenge.
