Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Newton (Home School) Mustangs (Newton, KS) and the host Independent Panthers (Wichita, KS), observed Newton (Home School)'s volleyball team top Independent by a count of 2-0.

The Mustangs (9-6) will now prepare for their contest against St. Xavier (Junction City, KS). The Rams enter the non-league contest with a 1-2 record.

The Panthers now own a 0-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Central Christian for a non-league battle on Tuesday, September 23. Independent will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Reno County HomeSchool (Hutchinson, KS). The Cougars record now stands at 6-8.
