Penn Yan Academy Mustangs (Penn Yan, NY) backers went home happy Saturday as they saw their soccer squad hold off the visiting Hammondsport Lakers (Hammondsport, NY), 1-0 in a non-league battle.

The Mustangs (3-3) will now prepare for their battle against Midlakes (Clifton Springs, NY). The Screaming Eagles enter the Finger Lakes - East battle with a 1-4 record. In their last battle, Midlakes was edged by Palmyra-Macedon (Palmyra, NY), 5-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Lakers battle the Alfred-Almond Eagles (Almond, NY) in a non-league battle, on Tuesday, September 24. Hammondsport will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Eagles enter the battle with a 0-7 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Wellsville (Wellsville, NY).
