    The Bassett Bengals football team (Bassett, VA), was tipped 22-20 in Friday's league challenge with the visiting Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA)

    The Comets (1-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Fleming (Roanoke, VA). The Colonels come into the non-league challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, Fleming was tipped by Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA), 27-19, in a non-league challenge.

    The Bengals now sport a 2-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mecklenburg County for a Piedmont challenge on Friday, September 29. Bassett will meet a Phoenix team coming off a 25-0 league win over Martinsville (Martinsville, VA). The Phoenix record now stands at 1-4.
