Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) boosters left the game thrilled Monday as they saw their volleyball squad nudge the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Huskies (8-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Elkin (Elkin, NC). The Buckin' Elks enter the non-league challenge with a 7-6 record. In their last challenge, Elkin was tipped by Starmount (Boonville, NC), 2-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Cougars meet the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) in a challenge, on Tuesday, September 23. Alexander Central will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record. The Spartans enter the challenge with a 9-3 record after their 2-0 non-league win over St. Stephens (Hickory, NC).
