In Friday's non-league match, the host University Hawks football squad scored a close 19-14 victory over the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears.
In their next game, the Hawks clash with the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers (Buckhannon, WV) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 30. University will attempt to move on its 3-2 season record. The Buccaneers enter the match with a 2-2 record after their 31-7 non-league loss to John Marshall (Glen Dale, WV).
The Polar Bears (3-2) will now prepare for their match against North Marion (Farmington, WV). The Huskies enter the Big Ten match with a 5-0 record. In their last match, North Marion held off Lincoln (Shinnston, WV), 35-0, in a league match.
