The Mahanoy Area Golden Bears football team (Mahanoy City, PA), was beaten 41-18 in Friday's non-league challenge with the visiting Riverside Vikings (Taylor, PA)

The Vikings (2-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Carbondale Area (Carbondale, PA). The Chargers come into the Lackawanna 3 challenge with a 2-3 record. In their last challenge, Carbondale Area was beaten by Western Wayne (Lake Ariel, PA), 38-7, in a non-league challenge.

The Golden Bears now sport a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they host Marian Catholic for a Colonial-Schuylkill challenge on Friday, September 30. Mahanoy Area will meet a team coming off a 15-12 league win over Nativity BVM (Pottsville, PA). The record now stands at 3-2.
