Fans at Tuesday's non-league contest between the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves (Walker, MN) and the visiting Verndale Pirates (Verndale, MN), observed Walker-Hackensack-Akeley's volleyball team hold off Verndale by a count of 3-2.

The Wolves (5-7) will now prepare for their contest against Clearbrook-Gonvick (Clearbrook, MN). The Bears enter the Northwoods contest with a 0-6 record. In their last contest, Clearbrook-Gonvick was tipped by Pine River-Backus (Pine River, MN), 3-0, in a league battle.

The Pirates now own a 3-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Pillager for a Park Region battle on Thursday, September 25. Verndale will encounter a Huskies squad coming off a 3-1 league loss to Sebeka (Sebeka, MN). The Huskies record now stands at 6-8.
