    The Union [Appalachia/Powell Valley] Bears (Appalachia, VA) football routed the visiting Gate City Blue Devils (Gate City, VA), 54-13 in Friday's league bout.

    In their next game, the Bears face the Thomas Walker Pioneers (Ewing, VA) in a non-league bout, on Friday, October 1. Union [Appalachia/Powell Valley] will attempt to move on its 3-1 season record. The Pioneers enter the bout with a 3-2 record after their 36-6 non-league win over Claiborne (New Tazewell, TN).

    The Blue Devils (1-3) will now prepare for their bout against Lebanon (Lebanon, VA). The Pioneers enter the non-league bout with a 0-4 record. In their last bout, Lebanon was crushed by Chilhowie (Chilhowie, VA), 24-7, in a league bout.
