The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes softball team scored 7 runs and limited the host Eastside Eagles to 5 in the Purple Hurricanes non-league triumph on Saturday.

With the triumph, Monroe Area improves its record to 11-9 on the year. The Purple Hurricanes travel to Stephens County (Toccoa, GA) to clash with the Indians in a 3A Region 8 game on Tuesday, September 27. The Indians come into the game with a record of 7-14. Stephens County lost 9-1 in their recent league game against Hebron Christian Academy (Dacula, GA)

In their next game, the Eagles clash with the Heritage Patriots (Conyers, GA) in a 5A Region 8 game, on Tuesday, September 27. Eastside will attempt to improve on its 10-8 season record. The Patriots come into the game with a 5-11 record after their 5-3 league loss to Jefferson (Jefferson, GA).
