Piedmont Academy Cougars (Monticello, GA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Newton Rams (Covington, GA), 9-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now sport a 15-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Briarwood Academy for a GIAA 2AA challenge on Tuesday, September 27. Piedmont Academy will face a Buccaneers squad coming off a 8-0 non-league loss to Glascock County (Gibson, GA). The Buccaneers record now stands at 11-4.

With the loss, Newton falls to 3-14 on the campaign. The Rams host Brookwood (Snellville, GA) to face the Broncos in a 7A Region 4 challenge on Tuesday, September 27. The Broncos enter the challenge with a record of 13-10. Brookwood won 1-0 in their recent league challenge against Archer (Lawrenceville, GA)
