Mercy Monarchs (Omaha, NE) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Gross Catholic Cougars (Omaha, NE), 9-4 in a league challenge.

The Monarchs now own a 14-7 record. They take the field next when they host Tekamah-Herman for a non-league challenge on Thursday, September 29. Mercy will battle a Tigers squad coming off a 11-6 non-league loss to Twin River (Genoa, NE). The Tigers record now stands at 10-13.

With the loss, Gross Catholic falls to 5-12 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Crete (Crete, NE) to battle the Cardinals in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, September 27. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 13-8. Crete won 7-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Lakeview (Columbus, NE)
