Hickory Hornets (Hermitage, PA) boosters exited the stadium pleased Thursday as they witnessed their soccer team beat the visiting West Middlesex Big Reds (West Middlesex, PA), 5-1 in a non-league test.
With the triumph, Hickory moves its record to 8-1 on the campaign. The Hornets host Mercer (Mercer, PA) to clash with the Mustangs in a non-league test on Saturday, September 28. The Mustangs come into the test with a record of 4-4.
The Big Reds now sport a 4-7 record. They take the field next when they host Mercer for a District 10 Region 1 test on Monday, September 30.

The Hornets welcomed their neighbors the Big Reds to Hornet Stadium on Military Appreciation Night. It was a celebration of those who have protected and served our country and those near and dear to the Hornet players hearts.
The team went out and played with a passion and lit the scoreboard up with 3 goals in a 3-minute span early in the first half, led by senior Eric McCrimmon who scored 2 of them. The Hornets defense then weathered a valiant attack by the Big Reds and held them to 1 goal over the next 53 minutes wrapping around half time before adding a goal in the 66th minute and another in the 67th minute led by senior Jakob Harmer (pk goal and an assist) to put the game away.
