In Friday's league match, the visiting Bellevue Comets football squad scored a decisive 48-14 triumph over the Monticello Panthers.
The Comets (5-0) will now prepare for their match against Alburnett (Alburnett, IA). The Pirates come into the 2A Group 5 match with a 4-1 record. In their last battle, Alburnett walloped West Branch (West Branch, IA), 20-17, in a league battle.
The Panthers now have a 0-5 record. They play next when they travel to Anamosa for a 2A Group 5 battle on Friday, October 3. Monticello will play a Raiders team coming off a 24-7 league win over Tipton (Tipton, IA). The Raiders record now stands at 2-3.
