In Friday's non-league game, the Hillcrest Patriots (Tuscaloosa, AL) football team edged the host Hueytown Golden Gophers (Hueytown, AL), by a tally of 27-26.
In their next game, the Patriots battle the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats (Northport, AL) in a 7A Region 3 game, on Friday, October 3. Hillcrest will attempt to better on its 4-2 season record. The Wildcats enter the game with a 0-5 record after their 43-7 league loss to Oak Mountain (Birmingham, AL).
