The Verndale Pirates were victorious over the host McGregor Mercuries football team by a score of 14-0 in Friday's league challenge.
In their next game, the Pirates face the Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] Huskies (Isle, MN) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, October 3. Verndale will attempt to improve on its 3-2 season record. The Huskies enter the challenge with a 5-0 record after their 44-6 non-league win over Carlton/Wrenshall (Carlton, MN).
The Mercuries (1-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Ogilvie (Ogilvie, MN). The Lions enter the District 9 North - South (9 Man) challenge with a 3-2 record. In their last challenge, Ogilvie lost by Cromwell (Cromwell, MN), 48-14, in a league outing.
