North Carolina High School Football - Polk County crushed by Mitchell

September 26, 2025: Bakersville, NC 28705

The Mitchell Mountaineers walloped the visiting Polk County Wolverines football team by a score of 39-7 in Friday's league challenge.

Next, the Mountaineers meet the Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC) in a Western Highlands 2A/3A test, on Friday, October 3. Mitchell will attempt to move on its 3-3 season record. The Warhorses come into the test with a 4-2 record after their 43-15 league win over Avery County (Newland, NC).

With the defeat, Polk County drops to 2-4 on the campaign. The Wolverines travel to Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC) to meet the Cougars in a Western Highlands 2A/3A test on Friday, October 3. The Cougars come into the test with a record of 4-1. Mountain Heritage won 52-20 in their recent league test against Madison (Marshall, NC)
