Pennsylvania High School Football - Monessen thwarted by South Side

September 26, 2025: Monessen, PA 15062

South Side Rams (Hookstown, PA) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they observed their football squad thwart the host Monessen Greyhounds (Monessen, PA), 21-6 in a non-league match.

The Rams (5-1) will now prepare for their match against Northgate (Pittsburgh, PA). The Flames come into the WPIAL A Big 7 test with a 0-6 record. In their last test, Northgate went down by Laurel (New Castle, PA), 50-0, in a league test.

With the defeat, Monessen moves to 4-2 on the season. The Greyhounds host Chartiers-Houston (Houston, PA) to face the Buccaneers in a WPIAL A Black Hills challenge on Friday, October 3. The Buccaneers go into the challenge with a record of 3-3. Chartiers-Houston lost 32-0 in their recent league test against Bishop Canevin (Pittsburgh, PA)
