New Mexico High School Football - Hozho Academy thwarted by Cuba

September 27, 2024: Cuba, NM 87013

Cuba Rams (Cuba, NM) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting Hozho Academy Wolves (Gallup, NM), 26-8 in a league battle.

With the win, Cuba improves its record to 1-5 on the season. The Rams travel to Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM) to play the Eagles in a 2A District 1 battle on Thursday, October 10. The Eagles go into the battle with a record of 4-1. Navajo Prep won 44-38 in their recent league battle against Laguna Acoma (New Laguna, NM)

The Wolves now have a 3-3 record. They play next when they travel to Newcomb for a 2A District 1 battle on Friday, October 11. Hozho Academy will play a Skyhawks team coming off a 34-0 league loss to McCurdy (Espanola, NM). The Skyhawks record now stands at 4-2.

Congratulations to #12 Richard Lovato (overall), #20 Santiago Maestas (offensive), #70 Samiko Castillo (defensive) and #54 Nathan Herrera (special teams) for being selected the Cuba Football Players of the Game.
