Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Spooner Rails (Spooner, WI) and the visiting Mercer Tigers (Mercer, WI), observed Spooner's volleyball team top Mercer by a count of 2-0.

The Rails (4-14) will now prepare for their contest against Cumberland (Cumberland, WI). The Beavers enter the Heart O'North contest with a 4-21 record. In their last contest, Cumberland was knocked off by St. Croix Falls (St. Croix Falls, WI), 3-0, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Tigers encounter the Hurley Northstars (Hurley, WI) in a Indianhead - East battle, on Monday, September 29. Mercer will attempt to improve on its 3-16 season record. The Northstars go into the battle with a 5-4 record after their 3-2 league loss to Mellen (Mellen, WI).
