The crowd at Thursday's league bout between the West Islip Lions (West Islip, NY) and the host Smithtown East Bulls (Smithtown, NY), saw West Islip's volleyball squad nip Smithtown East by a tally of 3-2.

With the win, West Islip upgrades its record to 6-5 on the year. The Lions travel to Half Hollow Hills East (Dix Hills, NY) to play the Thunderbirds in a Section 11 AA-2 bout on Monday, October 3. The Thunderbirds go into the bout with a record of 1-5. Half Hollow Hills East lost 3-0 in their recent league bout against Northport (Northport, NY)

The Bulls now own a 7-6 record. They play next when they host Centereach for a Section 11 AA-2 bout on Friday, September 30. Smithtown East will play a Cougars squad coming off a 3-2 non-league loss to Walt Whitman (Huntington Station, NY). The Cougars record now stands at 2-8.
