North Carolina High School Football - Gates County knocks off Martin County

The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC) and the visiting Martin County (Williamston, NC), observed Gates County's football squad thwart Martin County by a count of 34-26.

The Red Barons now own a 4-2 record. They play next when they host Bertie for a 1A Four Rivers contest on Friday, October 6. Gates County will play a Falcons squad coming off a 49-6 league loss to Tarboro (Tarboro, NC). The Falcons record now stands at 1-4.

Coming up next, the play the Washington County Panthers (Plymouth, NC) in a 1A Four Rivers contest, on Friday, October 6. Martin County will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Panthers go into the contest with a 2-2 record after their 34-28 league loss to Perquimans (Hertford, NC).
