Mississippi High School Football - Jefferson County prevails Port Gibson

September 29, 2023: Port Gibson, MS 39150

The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Jefferson County Tigers (Fayette, MS) and the host Port Gibson Blue Waves (Port Gibson, MS), observed Jefferson County's football squad defeat Port Gibson by a count of 14-6.

The Tigers now own a 4-2 record. They play next when they host Franklin County for a 3A Region 7 contest on Friday, October 6. Jefferson County will encounter a Bulldogs team coming off a 44-20 league loss to South Pike (Magnolia, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 3-4.

With the loss, Port Gibson moves to 2-4 on the season. The Blue waves travel to Wesson (Wesson, MS) to encounter the Cobras in a 3A Region 7 outing on Friday, October 6. The Cobras go into the outing with a record of 5-0. Wesson won 19-13 in their recent non-league outing against Mize (Mize, MS)
