Althoff Catholic Crusaders (Belleville, IL) boosters exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they witnessed their soccer team get by the visiting De Smet Jesuit Spartans (St. Louis, MO), 1-0 in a non-league test.

With the triumph, Althoff Catholic moves its record to 5-1 on the campaign. The Crusaders host Metro-East Lutheran (Edwardsville, IL) to meet the Knights in a Gateway Metro test on Thursday, September 4. The Knights come into the test with a record of 0-2. Metro-East Lutheran lost 5-1 in their recent non-league test against Staunton (Staunton, IL)

The Spartans now sport a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Peoria Notre Dame for a non-league test on Saturday, September 6. De Smet Jesuit will meet a Irish team coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Springfield (Springfield, IL). The Irish record now stands at 3-1.
