The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Spearfish Spartans (Spearfish, SD) and the visiting Mitchell Kernels (Mitchell, SD), observed Spearfish's football squad edge Mitchell by a tally of 26-21.

The Spartans now possess a 3-3 record. They play next when they travel to Tea for a non-league contest on Friday, October 7. Spearfish will play a Titans squad coming off a 57-7 non-league win over Sturgis Brown (Sturgis, SD). The Titans record now stands at 6-0.

Coming up next, the Kernels play the Watertown Arrows (Watertown, SD) in a Eastern South Dakota - AA contest, on Friday, October 7. Mitchell will attempt to advance on its 1-5 season record. The Arrows go into the contest with a 1-5 record after their 17-0 league loss to Aberdeen Central (Aberdeen, SD).
