Jefferson City Jays (Jefferson City, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs (St. Peters, MO), 7-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Jays now own a 14-7 record. They take the field next when they host Smith-Cotton for a non-league challenge on Monday, October 2. Jefferson City will battle a Tigers squad coming off a 8-7 non-league win over North Callaway (Kingdom City, MO). The Tigers record now stands at 16-10.

With the loss, Fort Zumwalt South falls to 7-12 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Howell Central (St. Charles, MO) to battle the Spartans in a Class 4 District 7 challenge on Monday, October 2. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 9-18. Howell Central lost 6-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Jackson (Jackson, MO)
