Fans at Wednesday's non-league battle between the Catlin Gabel Eagles (Portland, OR) and the host Newport Cubs (Newport, OR), saw Catlin Gabel's soccer squad knock off Newport by a count of 3-0.

The Eagles (2-0) will now prepare for their battle against McLoughlin (Milton-Freewater, OR). The Pioneers enter the 3A/2A/1A-SD6 Special District 6 battle with a 1-0 record. In their last battle, McLoughlin tipped Nyssa (Nyssa, OR), 11-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Cubs battle the North Bend Bulldogs (North Bend, OR) in a non-league battle, on Monday, September 9. Newport will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.
