Fans at Thursday's non-league contest between the La Serna Lancers (Whittier, CA) and the visiting Schurr Spartans (Montebello, CA), observed La Serna's volleyball team top Schurr by a count of 3-0.

The Lancers (6-2) will now prepare for their contest against Mary Star of the Sea (San Pedro, CA). The Stars enter the non-league contest with a 4-7 record. In their last battle, Mary Star of the Sea dropped by Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary (Montebello, CA), 3-2, in a league battle.

The Spartans now own a 2-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Warren for a non-league battle on Friday, September 5. Schurr will encounter a Bears squad coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to South (Torrance, CA). The Bears record now stands at 1-3.
