The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings held off the visiting Grinnell Tigers volleyball team by a score of 3-2 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Vikings now have a 7-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Solon for a non-league test on Thursday, September 7. Vinton-Shellsburg will confront a Spartans team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IA). The Spartans record now stands at 6-5.

The Tigers (1-5) will now prepare for their test against Prairie (Cedar Rapids, IA). The Hawks enter the non-league test with a 2-2 record. In their last test, Prairie was nudged by Marion (Marion, IA), 3-0, in a non-league test.
