Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team triumph over the visiting Washington Demons (Washington, IA), 45-7 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Independence improves its record to 2-0 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Crestwood (Cresco, IA) to meet the Cadets in a non-league challenge on Friday, September 12. The Cadets go into the challenge with a record of 2-0. Crestwood won 49-6 in their recent non-league challenge against Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA)

The Demons (0-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Burlington (Burlington, IA). The Grayhounds go into the non-league challenge with a 2-0 record. In their last challenge, Burlington bounced Oskaloosa (Oskaloosa, IA), 45-31, in a non-league challenge.
