The East Central Hornets volleyball squad (Moss Point, MS), was edged 2-1 in Saturday's non-league battle with the host Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS)

With the win, Newton County improves its record to 20-3 on the season. The Cougars travel to Gulfport (Gulfport, MS) to encounter the Admirals in a non-league battle on Saturday, September 7. The Admirals enter the match with a record of 17-4. Gulfport won 3-1 in their recent league match against Harrison Central (Gulfport, MS)

The Hornets (6-15) will now prepare for their match against West Harrison (Gulfport, MS). The Hurricanes enter the non-league match with a 8-8 record. In their last match, West Harrison was tipped by Long Beach (Long Beach, MS), 2-1, in a league match.
