Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Ocean Springs Greyhounds (Ocean Springs, MS) and the host Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS), observed Ocean Springs's volleyball team top Newton County by a count of 2-0.

The Greyhounds (23-4) will now prepare for their contest against Harrison Central (Gulfport, MS). The Red Rebels enter the Class 7A Region 4 contest with a 14-7 record. In their last contest, Harrison Central notched a victory over Hattiesburg (Hattiesburg, MS), 3-0, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Cougars battle the West Lauderdale Knights (Collinsville, MS) in a Class 4A Region 4 contest, on Tuesday, September 10. Newton County will attempt to move on its 18-3 season record. The Knights enter the contest with a 13-7 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Southeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS).
