In Friday's league battle, the host Valley Central Vikings volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks.

The Vikings (1-0) will now prepare for their battle against Middletown (Middletown, NY). The Middie Bears come into the Section 9 Orange County I battle with a 0-2 record. In their last battle, Middletown lost by Washingtonville (Washingtonville, NY), 3-2, in a league battle.

Next, the Goldbacks clash with the Cornwall Central Dragons (New Windsor, NY) in a non-league battle, on Monday, September 11. Newburgh Free Academy will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Dragons come into the battle with a 2-1 record after their 1-0 non-league win over Ursuline (New Rochelle, NY).
