Fans at Monday's non-league battle between the Union Pines Vikings (Cameron, NC) and the host South Garner Titans (Garner, NC), saw Union Pines's soccer squad hold off South Garner by a count of 1-0.
The Vikings (2-4) will now prepare for their match against West Johnston (Benson, NC). The Wildcats come into the Carolina Pines 6A match with a 2-7 record. In their last match, West Johnston nipped Smithfield-Selma (Smithfield, NC), 2-1, in a non-league match.
The Titans now sport a 2-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Enloe for a non-league match on Wednesday, September 10. South Garner will meet a Eagles team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Garner (Garner, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 5-1.
