The Pace Patriots topped the visiting Pensacola Area Homeschool Phoenix volleyball team by a score of 2-0 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Patriots now have a 7-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Baker for a non-league test on Saturday, September 9. Pace will confront a Gators team coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Crestview (Crestview, FL). The Gators record now stands at 1-0.
The Phoenix (3-9) will now prepare for their test against Baker (Baker, FL). The Gators enter the non-league test with a 1-0 record. In their last test, Baker gained a win over Crestview (Crestview, FL), 2-0, in a non-league test.
Match Summary
Tournament summary: In our team's first true JV tournament, we faced tough opponents in our opening pool play. The young Phoenix team managed to keep the first set close, with fantastic serving and few mistakes. Throughout the remainder of the tournament, they weren't able to keep it close, versus the much older and more experienced JV teams. Our girls had very solid serving throughout the match, as well as improved serve receiving and some impressive ball-handling plays and rallies! Unfortunately, we struggled with playing balls out of the net, with making organized plays, and with making good offensive hits to keep the heat off of our defense. This team faced a real challenge today and managed to keep their composure, and they will learn and grow through their experience!
