In Saturday's non-league game, the Massac County Patriots (Metropolis, IL) soccer squad overwhelmed the host Valmeyer Pirates (Valmeyer, IL), by a final score of 5-1.
The Patriots (6-1) will now prepare for their game against Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden (Anna, IL). The Wildcats go into the Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio game with a 4-3 record. In their last game, Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden nipped Pinckneyville (Pinckneyville, IL), 8-1, in a league game.
