Spectators at Saturday's non-league match between the Basalt Longhorns (Basalt, CO) and the visiting Doherty Spartans (Colorado Springs, CO), witnessed Basalt's softball squad overcome Doherty by a final score of 20-6.

The Longhorns (2-4) will now prepare for their battle against Meeker (Meeker, CO). The Cowboys go into the 3A Western Slope battle with a 3-5 record. In their last battle, Meeker was routed by Gunnison (Gunnison, CO), 14-9, in a league battle.

The Spartans now possess a 5-10 record. They play next when they travel to Vista Ridge for a 5A/4A CSML battle on Tuesday, September 12. Doherty will confront a Wolves squad coming off a 10-5 non-league loss to Elizabeth (Elizabeth, CO). The Wolves record now stands at 9-6.
