East Central Hornets (Moss Point, MS) backers were in high spirits Monday as they observed their volleyball team hold off the visiting St. Patrick Fighting Irish (Biloxi, MS), 3-2 in a non-league contest.

The Hornets (9-16) will now prepare for their contest against Laurel (Laurel, MS). The Golden Tornadoes enter the contest with a 0-8 record. In their last contest, Laurel was tipped by Richton (Richton, MS), 3-0, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Fighting Irish meet the Tylertown Chiefs (Tylertown, MS) in a Class 3A Region 8 contest, on Tuesday, September 10. St. Patrick will attempt to upgrade on its 13-7 season record. The Chiefs enter the contest with a 1-15 record after their 3-0 league win over Perry Central (New Augusta, MS).
