The Lafayette Fighting Irish softball squad (St. Joseph, MO), was edged 1-0 in Tuesday's non-league contest with the visiting Chillicothe Hornets (Chillicothe, MO)

The Hornets (8-1) will now prepare for their bout against Excelsior Springs (Excelsior Springs, MO). The Tigers go into the non-league bout with a 2-0 record. In their last bout, Excelsior Springs tipped Oak Park (Kansas City, MO), 12-2, in a non-league bout.

Next up, the Fighting Irish face the Mid-Buchanan Dragons (Faucett, MO) in a non-league contest, on Monday, September 15. Lafayette will attempt to improve on its 0-2 season record. The Dragons enter the contest with a 9-6 record after their 2-1 non-league loss to Belton (Belton, MO).
