NFL Draft: Top talent-producing high school teams per state

See some of the programs in action that consistently churn out NFL-level talent.

The most common measure of all high school football teams and coaches are victories and championships.

Next to that might be advancing players to the next level — playing college football. The icing on the cake is if that same player reaches the ultimate — the NFL.

Here are the best programs — one from each state — that have produced the most NFL draftees over the past decade (2006 to 2016).

Note, ties between two programs with equal amount of picks are decided by the team with the higher selection in the draft.



Alabama
Team: Vigor (Prichard)
Draftees: 4
The best of the bunch was defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks, a second-round pick of the Titans in 2009.

Alaska
Team: North Pole
Draftees: 1
Daryn Colledge, a second-round selection out of Boise State, was chosen by the Packers in 2006. He won a Super Bowl with the Packers. West (Anchorage) and Dimond (Anchorage) also have had players selected.

Arkansas
Team: Warren
Draftees: 2
Remarkably, there were two fourth-round selections in 2012 from the Lumberjacks, both made by the Vikings, Jarius Wright and Greg Childs, a pair of wide receivers.

Arizona
Team: Chandler
Draftees: 6
Among the half-dozen, the Wolves have a pair of first-round selections, defensive end Dion Jordan, the third pick overall by the Dolphins in 2013, and Cameron Jordan (no relation), the 24th selection of the Saints in 2011.

California
Teams: De La Salle (Concord)/Long Beach Poly
Draftees: 7 each
With the third-most draftees in the country, we decided to include both. Poly's top selection was first-round Marcedes Lewis, a tight end picked 28th overall by the Jaguars in 2006. He's still with the Jags and has 331 catches and 27 touchdowns in his 10-year career. De La Salle has had a pair of notable second-rounders in running back Maurice Jones-Drew (Jaguars 2006) and safety T.J. Ward (Browns 2010). Both earned Pro Bowl spots and Ward won a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2016, the same year of the Spartans' last selection, tight end Austin Hooper, a third-rounder of the Falcons.

Colorado
Team: Chatfield (Littleton)
Draftees: 2
Running back LenDale White was a second-round pick of the Titans in 2006 after a stellar career at USC.

Connecticut
Team: Stamford
Draftees: 2
Vladimir Ducasse, a guard now with the Bills, was the second-round pick of the Jets in 2010 and the Saints selected linebacker Khairi Fortt in the fourth round in 2014. He's now with the Redskins.

Delaware
Team: Howard (Wilmington)
Draftees: 1
Four teams from Delaware have had one team drafted, but the highest pick was Howard defensive Devon Still, a second-round pick of the Bengals in 2012. Still played at Penn State.



Florida
Team: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale)
Draftees: 19
The king daddy of all schools nationally, the Raiders have had two first-rounders, three second-rounders, five third-rounders, four fourth-rounders, a fifth-rounder and two picks each in the sixth and seventh rounds. The first-round picks were wide receiver Phillip Dorsett (Colts in 2015) and defensive end Joey Bosa (Chargers 2016), the third selection overall.

Georgia
Team: Stephenson (Stone Mountain)
Draftees: 7
Tied with De La Salle and Long Beach Poly for third most nationally, the Jaguars have never had a first-round section, but claim a pair of second-rounders in linebacker Jermaine Cunningham (Patriots 2010) and linebacker Preston Smith (Redskins 2015).

Hawaii
Team: St. Louis (Honolulu)
Draftees: 3
Two of the three picks were in the first round. Quarterback Marcus Mariota (Titans) was the second pick in the 2015 draft, and defensive end Tyson Alualu (Jags), now with the Steelers, was the 10th selection in 2010.

Idaho
Team: Marsing
Draftees: 1
No school has more than one, but Marsing boasted first-round pick, linebacker Shea McClellin (Bears 2012). In March 2016, the Boise State graduate signed with the Patriots and was a starter and key contributor on their Super Bowl championship squad.

Illinois
Team: Simeon (Chicago)
Draftees: 3
Defensive end Martez Wilson was a third-round pick of the Saints in 2011 to lead the way for Simeon, which also had sixth-rounders Nate Palmer (Packers 2013) and Zach Moore (Patriots 2014). Homewood-Flossmoor (Flossmoor) also claims three draftees.

Indiana
Team: Cathedral (Indianapolis)
Draftees: 3
Of this trio, the Leprechauns boast defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka, a first-round pick and 32nd selection overall by the Giants in 2006. He won two Super Bowl rings with the Giants.

Iowa
Team: Denison-Schleswig (Denison)
Draftees: 1
A total of 18 players from the great state of Iowa have been picked from 18 different high schools. The top pick and only first-rounder was guard Brandon Scherff, the fifth overall selection in the 2015 draft by the Redskins out of the University of Iowa.



Kansas
Team: East (Wichita)
Draftees: 2
Three schools — including Hutchinson and Washburn Rural — had two draftees, but East had the top selection with second-rounder Arthur Brown, a linebacker out of Kansas State picked by Ravens in 2013. He recently signed with the Seahawks.

Kentucky
Team: Fern Creek (Louisville)
Draftees: 2
The Tigers claim guard Jamon Brown (Rams 2015), a third-rounder, and seventh-round pick Mario Urrutia, a wide receiver chosen by the Bengals in 2008.

Louisiana
Team: Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport)
Draftees: 5
One of nation's most successful programs claim third-round picks, cornerback Jonathan Wade (Rams 2007) and running back Jacob Hester (Chargers 2008).

Massachusetts
Team: St. John's (Shrewsbury, Mass.).
Draftees: 2
Packers' tight end Richard Rodgers was the team's 2014 third-round pick out of Cal. The school's other pick was tight end Rob Blanchflower, a seventh-rounder of the Steelers in 2014. Dartmouth (South Dartmouth) also had two draftees.

Maryland
Team: DeMatha (Hyattsville)
Draftees: 5
The Stags claim a pair of second-rounders in tackle Cyrus Kouandjio (Bills 2014) and cornerback Josh Wilson (Seahawks 2007).

Michigan
Team: St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake)
Draftees: 4
Penn State graduate Allen Robinson, a wide receiver, was a second-round pick of the Jaguars in 2014.

Minnesota
Team: Cretin-Derham Hall (St. Paul)
Draftees: 3
Wide receiver Michael Floyd, a first-rounder of the Cardinals in 2012, is the prized pupil of Cretin-Derham.

Missouri
Team: Hazelwood East (St. Louis)
Draftees: 2
The third-round picks were eight years apart, but receiver Brandon Williams (49ers 2006) and linebacker Christian Kirksey (Browns 2014) were graduates of Hazelwood East.

Mississippi
Team: South Panola (Batesville)
Draftees: 3
Peria Jerry, a defensive tackle, was the Falcons' No. 1 pick in 2009 and No. 24 selection overall. Two other schools from Mississippi also had three draftees, Madison Central (Madison) and Olive Branch.

Montana
Team: Flathead (Kalispell)
Draftees: 2
Flathead is home of Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler, who was selected in the second round by the Broncos in 2012. The other draftee from Flathead is running back Lex Hilliard, a sixth rounder of the Dolphins in 2008.

Nebraska
Team: Elkhorn
Draftees: 2
The Antlers claimed center and third-rounder Spencer Long (Redskins 2014) and fourth-rounder Jay Moore (49ers 2007), a defensive end.



Nevada
Team: Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)
Draftees: 2
With all their success, it would seem the Gaels would have more picks, but those may come in the next few years. Gorman's prized pupil is tackle Ronnie Stanley, the sixth selection overall by the Ravens in 2016. The school's other pick, running back DeMarco Murray wasn't too shabby either as a third-round pick of the Cowboys in 2011. Cheyenne (North Las Vegas) and McQueen (Reno) also had two picks.

New Jersey
Team: Piscataway
Draftees: 4
Having four draftees is impressive enough, but three of them were first-rounders: Safety back Malcolm Jenkins (Saints 2009), cornerback Kyle Wilson (Jets 2010) and offensive tackle Anthony Davis (49ers 2010). Two in the first round in the same year is unprecedented during this span.

New York
Team: New Rochelle
Draftees: 3
Running back Ray Rice, a second-round pick of the Ravens in 2008, was the school's highest pick.

North Carolina
Team: Independence (Charlotte, N.C.)
Draftees: 4
The Patriots have had huge success on the field and it shows on draft day. Their top pupil was Hakeem Nicks, a first-rounder of the Giants in 2009. Havelock also had four draftees including linebacker Bruce Carter, a second-round pick of the Cowboys in 2011.

North Dakota
Team: Century (Bismarck)
Draftees: 1
That one from Century is quite the keeper in Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, the No. 2 overall selection of the 2016 draft. Two other North Dakota schools have garnered draftees, Shanley (Fargo) graduate Connor McGovern (Broncos 2016, fifth round) and Bismarck's Greg Eslinger (Broncos 2006 sixth round).

Ohio
Team: Glenville (Cleveland)
Draftees: 12
The nation's second largest collection of draftees belongs to the Tarblooders, who lay claim to No. 1 picks safety Donte Whitner (Bills 2006) and receiver Tedd Ginn Jr. (Dolphins 2007). The school had two picks in last year's draft, both in the fourth round, quarterback Cardale Jones (Bills) and defensive end Willie Henry (Ravens).

Oklahoma
Team: Washington (Tulsa)
Draftees: 4
The Hornets not only boast an impressive number, but two of the four were first-round picks, running back Felix Jones (Cowboys 2008) and receiver Robert Meachem (Saints 2007).

Oregon
Team: Jesuit (Portland)
Draftees: 3
The Crusaders have a trio of draftees, including a pair of fourth-round picks, fullback Owen Marecic (Browns 2011) and linebacker Slade Norris (Raiders 2009).

Pennsylvania
Team: Aliquippa
Draftees: 3
The Indians boast a pair of prominent first-round picks, cornerback Darrelle Revis, the 14th selection overall in 2007 by the Jets, and receiver Jonathan Baldwin (Chiefs 2011).

Rhode Island
Team: Bishop Hendricken (Warwick)
Draftees: 2
The Hawks are the only school to have any draftees from their state in the last decade. Those two were safety/return man Will Blackmon, a fourth-rounder by the Packers in 2006, and tight end Matt Sherry (Bengals 2008), a sixth-round selection.

South Carolina
Team: Greenwood
Draftees: 4
The Eagles had two selections by the Texans in 2013, second-rounder D.J. Swearinger, a safety from South Carolina, and third-rounder Sam Montgomery, a defensive end from LSU.

Tennessee
Team: Montgomery Bell Academy (Nashville)
Draftees: 3
The latest pick for Montgomery Bell was center Wesley Johnson, a fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2014. He's now on the Jets.

Texas
Team: DeSoto
Draftees: 5
Defensive end Von Miller was the second overall pick of the 2011 draft by the Broncos and headlines an impressive list of selections from DeSoto. Wide Receiver Mike Thomas (Jaguars 2011) was a fourth-round pick. Pflugerville also has five draftees over the last decade.

Utah
Team: Timpview (Provo)
Draftees: 3
A pair of second-round selections, guard Xavier Su'a-Filo (Texans 2014) and defensive tackle Stephen Paea (Bears 2011) were top picks from Timpview. Its latest selection was defensive end Bronson Kaufusi, a third-rounder by the Ravens last season.



Virginia
Team: Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach)
Draftees: 4
Wide receiver Justin Hunter, a second-round pick of the Titans in 2013, heads an impressive foursome from Ocean Lakes. Hunter also is a world-class long jumper. Westfield (Chantilly) and Varina (Richmond) also boasted four draftees over the last decade.

Washington
Team: Bellevue (Bellevue)
Draftees: 3
First-round selection David DeCastro, a guard and first-round pick of the Steelers in 2012, and second-round selection Myles Jack, a linebacker taken by the Jaguars in 2016, are the prized players from the perennial Western power.

Washington D.C.
Team: Dunbar
Draftees: 4
The Crimson Tide have a pair of first-round selections, tight end Vernon Davis, the sixth pick of the 49ers in 2006, and his younger brother, cornerback Vontae Davis, the 25th pick of the Dolphins in 2009. Vernon is now with the Redskins and Vontae with the Colts. Another D.C. school, Gonzaga, has had three drafted, including wide receiver Arman Shields, a fourth-round selection of the Raiders in 2008.

Wisconsin
Team: Brookfield Central (Brookfield)
Draftees: 2
One of six Wisconsin schools with two draftees, first-round pick and tackle Joe Thomas, the third selection overall in 2007, gives Brookfield Central the edge. Bradford (Kenosha) is the only one of the six with two first-round choices, both in 2015 when the Vikings took cornerback Trae Waynes with the 11th pick and the Chargers selected running back Melvin Gordon at No. 15. Pewaukee claims the most famous Wisconsin prep, defensive end J.J. Watt, taken by the Texas with the 11th pick in 2011.

West Virginia
Team: South Charleston
Draftees: 1
Four different schools in West Virginia lay claim to draftees, but wide receiver Aaron Dobson of South Charleston was the highest pick, a second-rounder by the Patriots in 2013. Dobson is now with the Cardinals.

Wyoming
Team: Campbell County (Gillette, Wyo.)
Draftees: 1
Clint Oldenburg, a fifth-round pick of the Patriots in 2007, is the only Wyoming native to be drafted in the last decade. He played offensive line for six different NFL teams, the last with the Redskins in 2010.



States without players drafted: Maine, New Mexico, South Dakota and Vermont.
